OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY GOES OUT TO......

ALQHA sends its thoughts and prayers to the family of Wanda Batson Vardaman who passed away on April 18, 2010. With Wandas passing, we have lost a good friend and mentor for the youth in East Alabama. Wanda was the youth director at EAHA for about 6 years and initiated Youth Halter at the AOHA state show. She loved helping best friend Pat Brasher with the Talladega 4-H horse club for numerous years  She was an accomplished halter exibitor and was inducted into the AOHA Hall of Fame in 2009.

Mary Beck and family at the loss of her mother.

Eunice Ledbetter from C and C Tack passed away Friday.
Eunice was a kind and generous lady. Her belief in God was deep and unwavering. So many of us will miss her. Her passing is indeed our loss.

THANK YOU ALQHA
I would like to thank the ALAQHA for the wonderful award of "Amateur of the Year".  It was unexpected, although Very Much appreciated.  There are many people within the Association very deserving of this award and to be voted to receive it is truly an honor !

I am thankful to be a part of our Association and enjoy showing and serving with all of you.

Thank you, I am humbled and very proud to have been selected........................

Jock Hernig

In Honor of Raynell Fetner, who was active in quarter horse shows from 1985 thru 2008. In the earlier years she would haul her daughter Joye to shows.  When Joye left for college, Raynell took up showing and really did very well.  She and her horse "Zipporah" (ZR for short) had come together as a team and had accomplished great things over the past few years. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer the first of Dec 2008. After fighting a tough fight with many tears and prayers, she died on Sept 2 ,2009.

Joye has told us that her daughter Katie started riding horses one month before her "Nana" died. Joye says her mothers face was filled with joy when she saw her granddaughter following in footsteps filled with a love for horses. Katie is going to show some in 2010 at some small shows, but in her Nana's memory, look for Katie and Zipporah in 2011 at Alabama Quarter Horse shows.
