Hello Fellow
Youth!
What a great start to this new year! I would like to begin with
applauding our new officers and youth advisor! Congratulations
to Mrs. Mary Casey Brown as our new 2013 Youth Advisor, Mr.
Price Walker our Vice President, Ms. Lena Hernig our Secretary,
Ms. Emma Sanford our Treasurer, and thank you to all who voted
me as your President. I am truly honored to serve the
association again this year!
I would like to welcome all of our
new members this year as well! Looking forward to working with
you all and making this year the best to date! Also,
congratulations to all of our youthies who showed at the 2013
Dixie National Southern Classic! You represented Alabama well!
For those of you who couldn’t make
it, our first meeting was held on February 24 in Trussville at
the Munoz Mexican restaurant. We had a fabulous attendance! We
discussed planning of events for this year and more fundraising
ideas. We are raffling off another Harris work saddle this year,
so if you have not gotten your tickets please let Mary or I know
so we can get them to you as soon as possible! T-shirts will be
available again this year! Inclusive to the Harris work saddle,
we are also raffling off a Remington statue and a set of Oster
clippers, the drawing and raffle for these two will be held at
the Summer Sizzler in May!
Our youth show this
year, the “Alabama Heart of Dixie Youth Classic”, will be held
in Montgomery, AL at the
Crawford Arena April 27-28 2013! It is
four full AQHA shows, the 4 in 1 format, four judges
one go! (Judges are
Rick Baker, Glenn Wells, Louis Hufnagel, and Jon Berry)
We will be having the team tournament again this year,
$200 all around awards, and $100 all around reining awards.
Don’t forget our exhibitor’s pizza party Saturday night! If any
of you have any ideas of more fundraising ideas please let us
know!
We are also planning two fun day
events this year such as a clinic fun day in June at Mrs. Martha
Eisenberg’s facility and another trail ride at Dr. Gingers
place! More information will be available soon! Also, as a
reminder, if you are interested in attending any national events
your letter of intent is due by April 1st! If you
need a form contact Mary Casey Brown; 334-704-3078 or email

We want your pictures! If you have
any show, at home, or activity pictures with your horse, please
send them in! We need them for our website, publications, and
Youth World scrapbook contest etc. You can email them to Lena at
smoothslide16@gmail.com
or myself at
horsinaroundgl@aol.com!
The ALQHYA has an opportunity to
make this year our best yet.
Our youth membership has grown
immensely; I am so excited to see what this year brings. With
everyone’s help and support so many great things will be
achieved. Your hard work will pay off! Sit tall in the saddle,
hold your head up high, and enjoy your ride!
