Beverly Davis: 2008 ALAQHA Vice President
"After owning horses for most of my adult life, we purchased the AQHA stallion Gold Futures by Goldseeker Bars and concentrated on breeding and promoting his get in the Southeast.  We purchased Sonny Dee Bar mares to further our breeding program in Western Pleasure.  After we sold Gold Futures we bred our mares to AQHA Champions and raised many Champions and Futurity winners.  My family and I own and operate Whippoorwill Hill Quarter Horses in Deatsville, AL and raise Western Pleasure and Halter prospects.  After successfully competing in Halter events in 2004/2005, I am enjoying every minute of showing my 3 time PHBA World Champion mare, Mr Be My Daddy, in the AQHA Halter classes.  I serve as the Secretary on the ALQHA Board and am also on the Board of Directors.  I am honored and look forward to being the ALAQHA Vice President."

Kelly McCrory:  2008 ALAQHA Secretary/Treasurer
I have always loved horses my whole life, but didn't get involved in them until I was an adult. The first horse I ever showed was with a friend of mine, she was a 6 yr old Intangible mare.  I did well on her that year.  In fact I own this mare today, I have had her for about 4 years, she is now 18 yrs. old.  After that I got my own show horse, he was 3 years old when I got him.  He still lives at my house he is now 9 years old. Then I got a mare I showed for a year,  that is the mother of  the one I show now Might Zips Chip "aka" JoJo.  He is really my pride and joy.  He is now 7 years old and hopefully he will be with me a long time.  I just started showing at quarter horse shows in the past couple of years and I have really enjoyed it.  I have met a lot of friends that I hope to have for a long time.

"My family has always owned Quarter horses.  I was fortunate to live close to some of the first people to raise Quarter horses in Alabama.  I showed my first Quarter horse at age ten.  Along with the Halter and Western Pleasure horses, I've also shown Cutting horses in NCHA events for over 12 years.  I have been able to raise my own show horses for the last 10 or 12 years which I show in Western Pleasure and Pattern classes.  Since joining the Alabama Amateur QHA, I have met some of the most interesting and fun people.  The Association has provided the opportunity to meet new people who all share the same love for the Quarter horse."

I've had horses since I was around 5 years old and I've been riding since I was 6 or 7 years old.  I started taking lessons and trail riding with a friend Jenny Cofield who talked my mom into letting me show her pony at an open horse show when I was 7 years old. It just took one show and I was hooked!  I have Ms. Martha Smith to thank for getting me involved in ALQHYA.  Moving from open shows and 4H was a big step for me and Ms Martha was always at the shows encouraging me to keep learning and trying.

Also, I'm really lucky to have been mentored by Earl Compton,  Aprille Watts, and Tom McBeath. Beside teaching me how to sit and ride a horse, those folks taught me to appreciate that all horses have talent,,,,it just may not be in the show ring. Being a member of the Alabama Quarter Horse Association has given me the opportunity to be part of a horse community / family that shares my interest and passion for horses. I presently attend Auburn University where I am a member of the Auburn Equestrian Team.  I'm majoring in Animal Science / Pre-Veterinary Medicine. My career goal is to be an Equine Vet. I am honored and look forward to working with the ALAQHA Board of Directors

I started riding at the age of seven and got my first American Quarter Horse at the age of thirteen, a three year old dun mare by Vista Bar, named Vista Cruiser.  I showed her in the 4H and open shows and eventually raised a few babies.  I took a break from horses during college and graduate school but once established in my career, I bought an Appaloosa halter mare in 1991.  I enjoyed showing at the Appaloosa shows, showing first in halter and added the riding classes after I sold the halter mare.  I showed in showmanship, hunter, pleasure, equitation, horsemanship and trail at the appaloosa shows.  I got started in the Quarter Horse shows two years ago with the help of Steve Cardwell and have enjoyed every minute of owning “Gizmo” and showing him in pleasure at the AQHA shows.  This year we hope to add showmanship and horsemanship to our repertoire.    I have made so many new friends showing AQHA and Alabama amateurs are the best!!! I am honored to join the Amateur Board of Directors this year an look forward to a fun and productive year.

Horses were the best part of my childhood. I grew up in a time where you went outside to play in the morning and, except for lunch, you stayed outside until dark. Like most little girls of that time I loved horse books, horse TV shows, and anything that had horses involved in it.  When I was 8 or 9 years old, my Granddaddy (Roscoe Goodson) gave me a little sorrel quarter horse filly for Christmas. She taught me trust, responsibility, patience, compassion, and on more than more occasion.....humility!

My college and early career years took me away from horses except for the occasional trail ride with friends who owned horses. When I had the chance and decided to get back involved with horses, it was to trail ride. I didn't count on my 7 year old falling in love with showing horses. Needless to say, the trail horse found a new home and I found myself the owner of a show horse!  Over the years we've bought and sold a few horses (bought more than sold) and I've been able to raise a few of my own on top of that. My non-horse friends and family don't understand why I never get tired of being greeted with the nickers and snorts of my horses when I go out to feed in the mornings. They question the expense, the work, the commitment....they just don't understand. Only other horse people understand.....

I look forward to working with the Board and Membership of the ALAQHA
